Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Friday, December 12, 1873, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, Dec 12, 1873- A rainy day. Painted all day but do not seem to succeed very well with my picture. Received a note from Fitch and one from Mr. Moore enclosing check for $80 yesterday. Today my mother went to New York to buy a carpet for the parlor. It has been foggy and rainy. I painted most of the day. Sent five small pictures to Moore from which he is to select what he likes and return what he does not want. Took a walk over towards Jacob Valley.
