Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 10, 1873, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Thursday, July 10, 1873 Painted on my picture again this forenoon. Sara's bird "Dandy" was found dead in his cage this morning from old age I think. Maurice has put him on ice for Sara to dissect when she came home. We had a shower this afternoon. I recieved a letter from Maj. Wilkinson today telling me he could not go fishing with me and so I wrote to Gifford asking him to go.
