Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Sunday, November 16, 1873, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Sunday, Nov 16, 1873- Received a letter from Mary in which she says Calvert tells her to tell me that he has "the Centennial buildings to build, superintend and make the contracts for but including grave responsibilities." I was sure this would be the case and I am immeasureably pleased. Sent a little sketch to Miss Sophie MacAdam for a fair in Yonkers for a hospital. Had a headache and did nothing all day yesterday but attend to it. The weather is grey and wintry the snow still remaining.
