Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, April 24, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, April 24, 1874- I began a picture 18x30 yesterday, a late Autumn with two figures and have painted on it all day today. It seems to me very successful. Whittredge saw it this evening and thought highly of it. Mr. & Mrs. Bachelder dined with us. I wrote to Maurice last night and today received a letter from Weir. I sent two pictures today to the Brooklyn reception (which takes place next week) "The first Shave" and "Murano" I put a low price on them $250 each hoping they may sell.
