Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Wednesday, August 26, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wednesday, Aug 26, 1874- Lucy Gertrude and I had a charming ride. Called to see Girards wife in Flat-bush and following the river road came home by the old Flat bush road. It was a beautiful day and the river was quiet and the landscape full of the late summer sentiment. Received a letter from Whittredge. John McEntee, his wife and Miss Lee spent the evening here.
