Monday, Feb 16, 1874- Mr. Holt brought a Mr. James from Baltimore to see my pictures. I offered him either of my large ones for a thousand dollars. Of course he couldn't decide but will bring his wife tomorrow. The usual way. Went to a little entertainment at Mrs. Monnells at the Albemarle hotel. The occasion being the 14th anniversary of her marriage and Bowyer Vaux's 19th birthday.
