Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 1, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Wednesday, July 1, 1874- Wrote to Booth today that it would be doubtful if we could visit him at the end of August. Would come for a week if we could. Wrote to Mr. Coale that I would paint him a picture as soon as I could. Received a check from Snedecor for $50 and a letter from Wilmurt. Painted on the little picture of Marion fishing. Tried to paint in Lory Stoddard but it is a failure. These little folks are not still an instant.
