Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Tuesday, July 14, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Tuesday, July 14, 1874- Recd a note from Coy Kendall in which he expresses himself pleased with the picture I painted for him and thanking me for the one I gave him, and enclosing his check to pay for the one he ordered. Commenced a little picture of Lory Stoddard and Marion at the table, the heads only. Wrote to Whittredge. My 46th birth day. Gertrude surprised me as usual with a present of two beautiful books Arts of the Middle Ages and Manners & Customs of the Middle Ages in French.
