Thursday, July 23, 1874- Yesterday by invitation of Mrs. Cornell we went on a pic nic to Stamford by special train. About 40 guests were invited the day was perfect and the affair a great success. My Mother, Gertrude, Sara Maurice & I went. Today I have painted on a copy of the sketch I made of Mrs. Wood. Had a nice letter from Booth yesterday and one from Bayard Taylor last night. Annie Norton and Mrs. Curtis Freds sister were here to spend the day with Julia & Nannie. Sara went to High Falls with them. Took a walk down to Steep Rocks. The weather is perfect.
