Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Friday, July 3, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, July 3, 1874- Joe Tomkins & Tula came this evening and later Dr. Emerson & Calvert. Fred Stedman came during the afternoon. I painted on Marions little figure and worked at my frames a part of the day in the shop. It has been one of the most exquisite of days. We seem to have had a succession of delightful days this summer. Many showers but this has enriched the foliage and the sense of fullness in the landscape in respect to color is most satisfying.
