Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Thursday, March 12, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Thursday, March 12, 1874- The wind blows a gale every day. It is very cold and the city is enveloped in dust. This evening we went to the Opera Bouffe to see A[?] in "La Folle de Madame August" I thought the singing poor and was most interested in the French pronounciation. Didn't understand much except that it was pretty broad.
