Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Monday, May 18, 1874, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Monday, May 18, 1874- We have just returned from home where we went on Saturday. Sunday was a charming Spring day. Sara, Gertrude, Maurice and I took a nice ride on the Flat bush road. We found cousin Charlie McEntee there on Saturday when we arrived. We came home today by the Hudson River Road. It has rained most of the day. We went up by the Wallkill Valley. The town seems stale and I only wish we were going back tomorrow to remain.
