Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, August 2, 1875, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Rained all day. Fred and Irving were to go by the Powell but took the 9.44 train instead. Went to the Strand to see Joe Tubby about our going out to Stamford as we had talked about on Saturday but his daughter is sick and I did not see him. Sent Girards letter and had the check certified. Came home and painted a little picture with a recollection of a sky I saw on Saturday. Also made a drawing on wood to take the place of one in "Among the Trees".
