Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Friday, March 19, 1875, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
A very cold day, almost like mid winter. I went out in the morning and bought some fruit which I had sent home by Express. The day has been frittered away by a series of calls, Alice, then Mrs. Sawyer, Mary and Mr. Sawyer so that I have done scarcely anything. I commenced a little sketch for Mary for her Fraternity paper but have been so interrupted I did not do much. We dined at Bayard Taylors with Mr. & Mrs Haven Putnam yesterday and had as we always do there a pleasant social time. Launt Thompson came in in the evening. Mr Sawyer dined with us and after dinner we went up and called on the Boardmans. Judge Hurlburts two daughters were there.
