Jervis McEntee Diaries

Tuesday March 23, 1875

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Tuesday, March 23, 1875, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Got my pictures ready for the Exhibition. I send this year "Autumn" belonging to Francis H. Weeks. "Paestum" belonging to Henry Holt. "Ginevra" painted this winter and belonging to S. D. Coy Kendall and "Saturday Afternoon" (24x42) painted especially for my Academy picture. We dined at the Wheelers where we met Prof. Boyesen a Norwegian writer. He left early to go hear Ristori. He struck me as having a very naive simple [?] in the short interview I had with him. The weather is wintry and the ice in the streets is thick and solid.
