Jervis McEntee Diaries

Wednesday March 15, 1876

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Wednesday, March 15, 1876, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Went to see Eastman Johnson about Rachel Carle. Was not in but met him. Had proposed it to his wife who as I expected would not entertain it. Pinchots "Winter" for the Centennial came yesterday from New Haven and Coy Kendalls "Frosty Morning" this morning. Mr. John Weiss and his daughter called with Mrs. Bigelow. We dined with Fred Norton & Annie to meet Mr. & Mrs. Winterton. I was detained at the Centennial meeting and we were a little late. I made the mortifying discovery that by an error in adding up my check book I had overdrawn my bank account a few dollars and a small check I gave was thrown out. Made it good at once.
