Thursday August 16, 1877

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Thursday, August 16, 1877, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Gertrude, Rachel Carle, my mother and I drove out to the Glasco Bridge this afternoon. I stopped to look for my eye glasses which I dropped there on Tuesday when we were out there fishing. I found them but all broken to pieces. We returned by the upper road from Martins from which there are fine views of the mountains. When we got back we found Bowyer, Downing and King Putnam here. They had come up from Alpine in their canoes stopping Monday night at Verplancks Point, Tuesday night at Polypels Island, Wednesday night at Esopus Island having had rainy weather every day.
