Friday April 12, 1878

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Friday, April 12, 1878, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

[continued from Thursday, Apr 11, 1878] ...morning we had half tea and [?] and other refreshments. Mr. Schumacher the German Consul General, Mr. Meyer and others connected with the line were most kind and hospitable and Capt Brandt kept up his amiability through this whole delay and severe trial to his patience. We got home a little after 8 and the steamer cannot sail until noon today. Among the passengers were Mark Twain & wife and Murat Halstead and family. Taylor was pretty well used up and we did not see him this morning. The rest today will be grateful.
