Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Thursday, August 8, 1878, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Got the wagon down from the carriage house and finished the cushion for the back-board. Washed the wagon, cleaned the harness and at 4 o'clock took Gertrude Maurice & Miss Lee for a charming drive across the creek, down the River road and around by Capt Andersons house. Had to stop half an hour at Ames old place on account of a shower. When we got home found Haven Putnam and Dr. Sykes here--came from Lake Mohonk on their way to Stony Clove etc.
