Jervis McEntee Diaries

Sunday March 31, 1878

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, March 31, 1878, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Gifford & wife, Gertrude and I went out to Nestledown and spent a charming day with the Wheelers. Wheeler very discontented. Nothing to do and consequently unhappy. We renewed old associations and came home feeling we had had a happy day. Spent the evening at Roods. Calvert and Mr Froebel there. On our way home found a woman lying on the sidewalk in Tenth St. in the rain dead drunk. Called a policeman who took her in charge.
