Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Wednesday, November 13, 1878, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
The wind has blown all day. This morning there were grand effects in the north, dark and solemn. I have been painting the flag staff and been very busy. I keep so busy that I have not an idle moment. Looking over letters all evening. Had a letter from Mr. Cranch and a note from Calvert. Sara came home this evening and I went to the train for her. She had one of her headaches.
