Jervis McEntee Diaries

Sunday November 3, 1878

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Sunday, November 3, 1878, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Left the Laurel House at 10 for home. A bright cool morning with a crisp north wind. We had had a most pleasant stay at Schutts who was most kind and attentive. We returned by the Clove and Saugerties reaching home at 3.15. Found Bowyer here and a telegram from Miss Durfee from [?] submitting an offer of $900 for my picture "The Year Smiles". There were letters from John Durand, Joe. Warren, Booth and Eastman. Eastmans letter so sensible and so characteristic and so full of an unaffected sadness. Wrote to Miss Durfee.
