Jervis McEntee Diaries

Saturday January 4, 1879

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Saturday, January 4, 1879, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

The gale has continued today but is not so severe. Sara and I took a sleigh ride down by the new river road and around home by the Flat-bush road. We talked of Gertrude all the way. I never go over any of these roads where we used to drive that I do not think of her all the time. Mr. Knight arrived this morning having been obliged to stay at Rhinebeck over night. Alice and the baby are getting well and will return with him in a few days.
