Jervis McEntee Diaries

Wednesday October 1, 1879

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, Wednesday, October 1, 1879, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Hard wind. After breakfast we pushed out into the lake where I made a sail of my rubber coat and we headed for the outlet, flying along before the gale. Fished from the dam and caught seven nice trout. Cooked our lunch, gathered some splendid autumn leaves and returned at evening, the wind still blowing a gale. Part of the way the men had all they could do.
