Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, December 26, 1880, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Sunday, Dec 26, 1880 Staid at home all day. The weather is milder and the wind blows hard from the North, but it is so restful to sit in the pleasant rooms and look out on the winter landscape. I love the winter at home in the country and it gives me a restful and peaceful feeling. I wrote to Mr. Sawyer and to Booth from whom I found a letter on my arrival home.
