Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, November 16, 1880, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Tuesday, Nov 16, 1880 Went to the Strand this morning and had my hair cut and ordered a protection made for the stone at dear Gertrudes grave. The day has been bright and cold and ice nearly an inch thick formed last night. Worked all day in my studio mostly on the little portrait which I mean to leave now for a time. I continue to feel more at rest and less unhappy.
