Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, September 7, 1880, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Tuesday, Sept 7, 1880 Left by the Powell on my way to Seconnet. Lunched with Bowyer at the house and called on Mrs. Gifford and spent an hour with her. She gave me one of Sanfords sketching boxes. From there I went to call on Mrs. Wheeler at the Art rooms in 4th Avenue. She showed me the embroidery she had been doing and took me through the rooms to see the stained glass etc. Met Maggie Austin (nee Abbey) who is at work there and then went to the Fall River boat where I found my stateroom secured. It was a grey day and rained a part of the time.
