Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, May 13, 1881, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, May 13, 1881 Painted on Gertrudes picture but do not at all satisfy myself. I saw the notice of Mr. Andrew Boardmans death in the Tribune yesterday. I had not heard he was ill. Attended the distribution of the prizes to the Students of the Academy last evening, and looked in at their festivities afterwards. Miss Ford came to see me yesterday. Has been sick and is out of money as I presumed she would be. Talked with her to find out what she wanted to do and am going to see Miss Leggett. I gave her five dollars for her present needs.
