Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, December 22, 1882, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, Dec 22, 1882 Went up home by the 4 oclock train to go to Mrs. Bernards party, but it rained when I arrived and in fact all night and Sara had a bad cold, so we did not go. Found my father still very feeble but a little better than he had been. Maurice did not come home. Heard he was drinking again just as he has [?] his last bout. He is hopeless and this made me most unhappy.
