Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 14, 1905, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Wednesday, Feb 8, 1882 Breakfasted in my room after a somewhat restless night and went home by the 8 oclock train. Jamie whose school has been broken up by scarlet fever met me at the ferry. The river frozen over but the ferry boat running. Dressed myself as soon as possible when we drove down to Ned Tomkins to attend the wedding of his daughter Carrie and Henry Snyder. My father & mother, Gussie, Gertrude, Sara and I. We remained until 4 and I enjoyed it exceedingly. It was a beautiful winter day, the home was very pleasant and every thing went off in the happiest manner. Afterwards Sara and I drove to Kingston and I made my party call at the Forsyths. In the evening we went down to John McEntees. My mother is not well and we are troubled about her. She looks pale and is quite feeble.
