Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, January 20, 1882, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, Jan 20, 1882 Miss Teale came and accepted her picture and paid me $110 on [?] of the $300. She wanted to give me some kind of a note or paper for the balance but I told her to send it to me when she went home. I am to send her the picture tomorrow. I gave her the frame a very handsome one. Did not feel very well in the afternoon owing I think to the confined air where we dined last night. I had just the feeling induced by breathing confined air. Finished a picture 15x18 which I am going to send to Reichardt. Dined at Purssells with Thompson, Lawrence and Terry after which Launt and I walked up to 35th St and called on Mrs & Mr. Goddard. Mrs. Goddard was Minna Godwin formerly. We had a most pleasant call of an hour and I was most agreeably impressed by Mr. G. From here we went to Dr. Otis Artists party where we met many old friends. There was the usual supper and champagne and we had a pleasant evening.
