Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 20, 1882, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Thursday, July 20, 1882 Left Fort Benton at 4 A. M. Crossed ferry and drove to Highwood Creek 40 miles where we camped at 8. I caught some fine trout where we breakfasted. Remained here until 5 P. M. when we drove to Sand Coulie where we made a dry camp having become belated by a hot axle. Wrote to Mrs. Weir from Highwood Creek.
