Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, January 19, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Friday, Jan 19, 1883 A dark day with snow. Painted in my picture for Springfield "Shadows of Autumn" 14x26 and advanced it. Mr. McWinn who used to be Andrews Lieutenant called. Eastman came while he was here and invited me to dine with him. I went up about half past four and staid until after 10. We had an earnest talk on religious topics and on seriousness and the foolishness of shams in life.
