Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 2, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Monday, July 2, 1883 Our day in the Kaatskills was a perfect one cool and bracing. Booth has gone to N. Y. to return on Saturday. I feel that my days are going without producing anything but I am glad to be a help to him who has always been so sincere a friend to me. A heavy wind squall with a shower passed over us this afternoon. It has been pretty warm but is cool tonight. I have written to Lucy almost entirely about Maurice. Sara had a long letter from her today full of tenderness for him and a strong desire to be at home with us.
