Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 4, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Wednesday, July 4, 1883 John McEntee, Girard and I went fishing out beyond Glasco bridge. It was a very hot day and closed with a succession of heavy thunder showers all of which we escaped. We caught a nice lot of black bass and one of mine weighed 1 1/2 lbs. Got home before dark.
