Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 7, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Saturday, July 7, 1883 Still very hot but a brisk wind. Directly after dinner Downing and I walked up to the W. S. Station to see Bowyer who had come up on a press excursion to go to the hotel Kaaterskill. Saw him and Whitlock and Munroe for a few minutes. Booth returned by the evening train from N. Y. and I met him at the depot. It rained and looked very threatening just before the train was due.
