Jervis McEntee Diaries

Saturday June 2, 1883

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, June 2, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Saturday, June 2, 1883 Julia went home this morning. Downing and I took a walk out above the tunnel. A great cliff has fallen in the lime quarry beyond the tunnel in the place where a man was killed a year or two ago. We saw a train of six passenger coaches pass over the bridge while we were there probably on their way down to Newburg for the opening of the road on Monday.
