Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, June 5, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Tuesday, June 5, 1883 Downing, Laura, Josephine and I cleaned the parlor and two halls today and got them nearly in order again. My father is out and begins to feel himself again. It has been very warm but the landscape is lovely. I am very anxious to be painting and tomorrow Marion is to stand for me for a figure for a picture I am contemplating from Whittiers "Telling the bees" We hear nothing from Maurice. I had a letter from Perry telling me the members of the Art Union are not very ready to take its stock. His plan of distributing pictures which he sent me I think too complicated.
