Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, March 31, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Saturday, Mar 31, 1883 John Weir came in just a moment before I left for home by the 3.30 train. Calvert met me at the station. The river was clear of ice up as far as Newburgh and steamboats and sailing vessels were to be seen in numbers. Downing met us at the ferry. Found my mother about as I left her, very helpless. Met Joe Tomkins at Rhinebeck on his way to N. Y. He said Gussie was to meet him in Boston next week and go home with him which I greatly regret.
