Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, May 10, 1883, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Thursday, May 10, 1883 Downing rested well and I went in to see him. Talked with him a little. He staid in bed all day but was inclined to get up and stir about. I wrote to Booth but did not finish the letter. Advised him and Edwina not to induce him to consider any plans for the future. No more work here. Shall go home to stay next week and am getting ready. Called on Miss Nesmith in the evening and then went to the club a little while. Have a cold coming on.
