Thursday, Aug 14, 1884 Went down stream but found nothing but a jungle of willows. Then went up where I was yesterday and after looking around a long time finally set to work feeling much discouraged. Am afraid I am not going to find as much here as I hoped to. I was afraid I would be lonely here and if I cannot find good sketching shall have to leave, but where else to go I do not know.
