Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, August 3, 1884, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Sunday, Aug 3, 1884 The pleasant days continue. We have spent this one quietly at home. I wrote to Alice not having heard from her for some time. I would like to know how they are bearing their disappointments and perplexities. I have thought much of dear Gertrude today and it always seems to me that Heaven means the being with her again. What a blessing is the memory of so sweet a woman.
