Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, August 6, 1884, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Wednesday, Aug 6, 1884 One of the loveliest of days. My father Mary and Sara drove to High Falls directly after an early dinner to call on Julia Dillon and got back at 7 having had a most charming ride. This forenoon I had a boy gather the last of the early apples. I am rereading Allen Cunninghams lives of the British Artists which dear Gertrude gave me for a present on the Anniversary of our marriage in 1874. They are most interesting to me.
