Jervis McEntee Diaries

Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 22, 1884, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Tuesday, July 22, 1884 Sara and Mary went to N. Y. by the Powell this morning leaving Marion, my father and me. It has seemed pretty lonely and I have been somewhat depressed. It was cool this morning, then very hot about noon and cooler towards evening with a thick, smoky atmosphere. I wrote to Eastman and sent a note of inquiry to the Fourth Auditors office respecting Maurices claim to the Farragut Prize found.
