Thursday, Mar 27, 1884 Worked on my picture and attended to the responses to the circular for the Gordon reception which are beginning to come in. Hubbard encourages me greatly with my picture and thinks it very interesting. Attended a mass meeting at Cooper Institute to hear Mr. Evarts report of the Committee of 53. He[,] Wheeler H. Pickham, Judge Noah Davis, Prof. Dwight & others spoke. There was great enthusiasm and the house was full. R[?] name was greeted with three cheers.
