Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, May 26, 1884, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Monday, May 26, 1884 Another charming day. The hill seems very lovely and bowery the leaves being fully out. We had a letter from Lucy today. She had not yet received my letter giving an account of Gussies death. I spent the forenoon coloring the floor of Toms room and puttying up the cracks. This afternoon I have done a little of every thing. Cousin Rachel came back on the Powell this evening.
