Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, February 6, 1885, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Friday, Feb 6, 1885 Casilear came in to see my picture. He thought I had improved it. Have been at work on my woods. Girard came in. He told me my father and Sara had been out to Mr. Jansens and while there my father went out to look at a calf we have there and on crawling through some sort of place he fell and bruised his hip. This troubles me but Girard seems to think it is not at all serious. He came down to get the Agency of the West Shore road and thinks there is no doubt he will have it. Dined at Frank Weeks with Miss Blake, Miss Pomery, Miss [blank] Mr & Mrs. King & Mr. Sedgewick. Seeing I was invited to dine very informally I was quite surprised at such an array of guests.
