Friday, Jan 2, 1885 The weather changed last night and this morning it was bitterly cold. My spirits went up at once and I feel like a new man. I was born for cold weather and the North. Began a little snow picture from a sketch I gave Mary Xmas 1863. Mrs Pychouska and her daughter called. Fuller came in and staid an hour. I am to dine with him on Monday. I proposed he should take my picture of the brook for Mrs. Warren and he thinks very favorably of it, and is to bring Mrs. Warren to see it. Warren will pay me $500 additional to the bill for papering if he takes it which I hope he will. My two pictures went to Boston today. "Upland farm["] and Kaatskill Woods (20x24)[.] Called on Fred Sawyers wife this evening in their new apartment in 18th St the Randolph. She told me Oscar is here in town and has been ever since he left Portsmouth. Alices ideas of life are rather amusing to me. She is an excellent woman with many conventional notions. Around at the club a little while.
