Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 25, 1885, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution
Saturday, July 25, 1885 Girard John and I went fishing out to Leggs Mill. We had a violent shower while we were waiting for bait in Kingston and were out on the creek through two heavy showers, getting thoroughly wet. We caught very few fish although all the conditions seemed favorable. Got home after dark through seas of mud. Glad to find Mary is improving.
