Jervis McEntee Diary Entry, July 29, 1885, from the Jervis McEntee papers, 1850-1905, in the Archives of American Art, Smithsonian Institution

Wednesday, July 29, 1885 Took my father out for a drive after which I went for Sara at John McEntees and drove up to the Ludlums but the family were engaged and Sara saw only Miss Ludlum, Jas. Ludlums daughter. I worked a little on the sky in Fullers picture this afternoon and made a small sketch of a twilight sky I saw a few evenings ago. Annie Lee and Nannie went to High Falls today. Sara and I called on them. After tea Sara and I drove down to call on Mr & Mrs. Lindsley. It has been a hot day but fine air and a breeze.
